Green Roofs … Get the Competitive Edge!
OCTOBER 25, 2007

Hello All,
The AICP Commission is considering requiring certification maintenance through continuing education. This issue has been debated throughout the organization for many years. The report on the AICP website identifies the proposed guidelines, including number of credits required (48 over 2 years), how often members have to report their credits, what qualifies for credits, and any exemptions that would be considered. For your review, I have attached a link to the AICP website and a pdf of the proposal. Please submit your comments (or questions) to the AICP Commission, AICP-CM@planning.org, no later than January 9, 2007.

These requirements would only apply to AICP Certified planners. All planners should be participating in continuing education on an ongoing basis but it would only be required to maintain AICP Certification. I am inviting everyone to read through the proposal and submit comments. It is possible to get all of the required hours without leaving the state of Nebraska if you attend the Spring APA/NPZA conference and attend the fall APA meeting on an annual basis. Only ½ of the required hours have to be from an APA source and that includes state conferences and Chapter sponsored training opportunities.
Let me know what you think of the proposal.
